On November 12- 14, 2017 Green Gate Consulting’s CEO Agnes Pawelkowska attended the West Virginia Chemical and Energy Sector Trade Mission held in Morgantown and Charleston, West Virginia. Domestic and international executives representing private companies and trade organization traveled to West Virginia to participate in a two-day event showcasing economic opportunities in the chemical and energy sectors.
The industry mission organized by the Discover the Real West Virginia Foundation and the West Virginia Department of Commerce began with a welcome reception held on behalf of the visiting executives at the WV University in Morgantown. The special guests included U.S. Senator Jo Manchin and the President of WV University, Prof. Gordon Gee.
During the mission, executives participated in various business meetings and study tours of industrial sites and facilities in West Virginia, which included presentations from leading experts from natural gas exploration and production companies, and midstream gas companies regarding shale gas development in the Appalachian basin, as well as chemical and polymer executives regarding numerous investment and co-location opportunities in West Virginia for downstream companies.
In addition, H. Wood Thrasher, Cabinet Secretary of the West Virginia Department of Commerce, hosted a dinner for the delegation at the Governor’s Mansion in Charleston.
The mission offered an excellent opportunity to explore West Virginia’s potential in chemical and energy sector. It also provided an unparalleled opportunity for networking and developing new business connections. And most importantly, it yet again highlighted an untapped business potential of West Virginia.
